Purpose and Philosophy
North Georgia College and State University embraces the philosophy that living in a campus residence hall is an important part of a university experience. The learning that occurs through experiences in decision-making, critical thinking, and taking responsibility within the residence halls will be invaluable throughout one's life.
Full-time students who have not earned 60 semester hours must live on campus. Students may live off-campus if they live with and commute daily from the permanent legal residence of parent(s) or grandparent(s) within Banks, Cherokee, Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Habersham, Hall, Lumpkin, Pickens, Rabun, Towns, Union or White counties; are married or divorced; are 21 years of age or older; or have completed two years of successful active military service.
NGCSU houses women on campus in Donovan Hall, Lewis Hall, and Owen Hall apartments. Male civilians are housed in Lewis Annex and Owen Hall apartments. All students residing in the traditional residence halls are required to purchase a meal plan and are originally assigned the most economical plan, Unlimited Access Plan, which provides dining at any time when the Dining Hall is open.
